“Don’t worry bro…that was Jesus”

I remember the day very clearly. The principal of my bible college called me into his office.

“Benaiah” he said. “I want you and Fabian (a college friend), to run one of our chapel meetings. You can do whatever you want”

My heart jumped. “Lead 700 students” I thought to myself. “What on earth could we do for that 60 minute period of time!’

Once we had talked it over, fabian and I decided that we would go for healings and believe that the power of the Holyspirit would move in a fresh way.

We planned, prayed and allowed our faith to stir for weeks.

The Friday chapel came. Along with a million thoughts running through my head I thought to myself “Keep it simple, and believe for God to move”

Fabian led worship and I spoke for about 10 minutes about healing and the simplicity of faith. Once I had finished sharing the moment had come, the moment where healing was either going to be just a ‘good idea’ or a ‘reality’ in the Kingdom.

I asked anyone who was sick to come forward. A couple of hundred came forward. I asked the crowd “who here believes that Jesus can heal the sick?”

Hands went up all over the auditorium.

“Ok” I said, “all those with their hands raised come down and lay hands upon the sick”. Once hands were laid upon every sick person I told them, “We will not stop praying for you until you get better. The word tells us that if we “lay hand upon the sick they WILL recover” (mark 16:18), not that they MIGHT recover. He also said that “by his wounds we ARE healed!” (isaiah 53:5)

People all over the place began to pray.

I then said “once you get your healing raise your hand and we will get you up the front to share your testimony of healing”.

The next 2 minutes seemed like an eternity as no hands were raised (I know I should of had more faith!). Then a girl put her hand up, She had injured her shoulder in a car accident and couldn’t lift her arm over her shoulder. But now she was lifting her arms completely!

“It’s begun” I thought. We pulled her onto the stage, where she shared here testimony of healing. All of a sudden hands started going up all over the place,

Jesus was healing.

That day we saw cancers healed, all types of sicknesses healed, broken bones healed, not to mention internal healings. I remember one girl had a bad back. She couldn’t stand straight. While receiving prayer, the person saw a demon on her back. He rebuked it and saw it leave. Her Back was instantly healed!

I’ve also seen this happen hundreds of times in our youth ministry over the past few years. I remember one night I called everyone down the front who was sick after sharing on the simplicity of the Word when it comes to what Christ has paid for. We had 20 young people come down to get healed. I then called anyone who simply believed to come down and pray for them. I also told them that we will pray until we saw the healing for Jesus had paid the price. Sounds arrogant? I think it sounds like faith. Some people had to be prayed for over and over again, but by the end of the night 19 out of the 20 were healed!

One Youth who was young in the Lord was at the front next to a guy with a broken finger. I said to him “Do you believe Jesus can heal this finger?” He said “yes”. So I told him to go for it. The boys broken finger was healed instantly. The new Christian looked at his hands in astonishment. “Don’t worry bro” I said, “That was Jesus”. A big grin came across his face.

So what am I trying to say through these testimonies?

1) Simply believe. Keep it simple. Take the Word for what it says. If it says that when we “lay hands upon the sick they WILL recover” just believe it and don’t take no for an answer. Faith doesn’t take no for an answer.

2) Allow your testimonies to bring power to you theology. Rev 12:11 tells us that we “overcome the enemy by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony”. Lets be a people full of testimonies! Our testimonies also prophecy our breakthrough into other peoples lives. “For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Rev 19:10b

3) Live is a realm where if God doesn’t move, you’re going to fail. This is the realm of Faith. Without faith we CAN’T please God, so let your faith rise.

4) Just do it. Human reasoning, complicated theology, reasons why not, should not never take prominence over faith in the ability of the Holyspirit. Theres a dying world – go out there and be Jesus. If God can talk through a donkey in the Bible, he can use us!

I hope the Holyspirit spoke to you through this and that it blessed you!

Feel free to share the link to this article with anyone you think it would bless!

Much Love.

Testimony time!

The book of Revelation tells us that we “overcome the evil one by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony” (Rev 12:11).

I’m always so encouraged by the willingness of this generation to take the reality of God to others. Truly a ‘child-like faith’.

Here’s just a few testimonies at Mannahouse Youth for the past few weeks. Enjoy!

- Over 100 decisions for Christ aready this year. Thankyou Jesus!

- Girl with tumor healed.

- Man with limp prayed for down the street by youth with man completely healed instantly

- Youth praying for lady down the street with rhematoid arthritis. Lady starts crying saying she ‘feels the presence’ of Jesus. Pain starts to go away.

- Girls pray for sick people in local high school. They are teased by others. They testify of the goodness of God because they have had the privilege of being teased for the sake of Christ!

- Man comes to one of our friday night programs with a broken foot. Youth pray for him. The man walks into church on sunday jumping on the ‘broken’ foot to show that it’s 100% healed!

- Many hearts changed and baptized by the Holsyspirit

- dislocated knee 100% healed!

THANKYOU JESUS. This is just the start…

The Christian YoYo

Over the years i’ve watched, and even been a part of, something i’ve come to call the “Christian yoyo”:

We go to conferences, read books and have encounter nights. Get on fire one minute, then within a short period, we can find ourselves feeling spiritually sick.

Why is this? Jesus didn’t seem to be like this did he?

I’ve come to this conclusion: it’s because so often we have Jesus in our hearts, along with a lot of rubbish we don’t deal with. Most often its hurt, fear, insecurity, pride, self.

The fire of God in our lives can start but unless the heart is dead to self, the fire wont last.

Its like putting green leaves on a bonfire -there’s a lot of smoke but no lasting flame. You need to be dead to truely burn. This means allowing your self to be vulnerable before God, so He can help deal and heal any issues of the heart that will ultimately make you sick.

Whatever is in your heart, whether you’ve buried it or not, will eventually come out and be reflected in who you are.

“So a man thinks in his heart, so he is” (proverbs 23:7)

I recently shared these thoughts with my local church and was amazed at the response from people who have been saved for 20, 30 and even 40 years. They couldn’t work out why they would go through times of being fired up for the Lord and then seem to get sick spiritually. The key: Uprooting the things in there heart that were polluting the body.

Unresolved heart issues will always act like a dam blocking the flow of the Holy Spirit in your life.

Take a minute to ponder this question…

What are the things that are closest to your heart?

The answers to this question are probably things like friends, family, a relationship, hobbies, causes, work, money, music, God…the list goes on.

I’ve come to realize that the most important thing in this world is the condition of my heart.

The Bible tells us that “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the well spring of life” (Proverbs 4:23).

There is nothing more important in our lives than our heart.

Just as the condition of our physical hearts keep us healthy or sick, so our spiritual hearts determine who we are.

You are…your heart.

Who you are today, how you speak, how you act, the attitudes you carry, your emotions, the way you responded last time someone offended you, the last time you responded when someone else took the last cookie?

These are all a reflection of one thing: your heart.

Proverbs 27:19 tells us that “as water reflects a mans face, so the heart reflects the man”. Who you are today is just an outward showing of an internal heart.

This is the reason we ask Jesus into our hearts at salvation. If Jesus is truly in our hearts, who we are will resemble who He is.

Jesus tells us that what you say comes from what is in your heart (matt 12:42). That the good man brings forth good out of the good stored up in him and the evil man brings forth out of the evil stored up in him. Notice the word Stored. Everything we allow close to our heart is storing something within us that will eventually surface, both good and bad.

What are you storing in your heart?

For example, If you want to be someone who genuinely loves people, don’t just try love more people because you made your mind up to, but ask the Lord to fill your heart with love, and love will flow from you, from who you are.

I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s no such thing as ‘having a bad day’ or ‘waking up on the wrong side of the bed’. Its when an orange is squeezed that whatever is on the inside of it will come out – either sweet goodness or sourness.

People who know me well will tell you that I’m pretty guarded about the things that I allow to be close to my heart. The enemy is consistently trying to sow seeds into our life’s that bring destruction, division and death. Every time we speak the bible tells us that we either speak words of death or life- Everything we say is a seed and every time we allow someone to speak into our hearts they are sowing a seed.

How do seeds get in? Through what (or who) we listen to or are close to, through what we read (or view) and from who we partner with (Both friendships and relationships). The amount of people I’ve seen ripped off because of a lack of guarding the heart in these issues is staggering – I myself many times have fallen for these traps. In different seasons of my life I’ve had to lay down close friendships (Both Christian and non-Christian). Why? Because they were sowing seeds that were (or were going to) produce bad fruit in my life. My heart condition is more important than any friendships

So what do we need to do?

Its simple…Put your heart number one. Above all things guard your heart.

Everyday I try pray these prayers
- Lord clean out the temple of my heart
- Lord Set me heart on Fire and burn up the dross
- Lord Soften my heart
- Lord Consume my heart…”You must increase, But I must decrease”

Hope the Holy Spirit spoke to you through this.

Much love,

Benaiah

Me, a bride?

In recent times I’ve had the priviledge to attend a number of friends weddings. I enjoy watching the bride and groom:

radiant,
confident,
full of life,
expectant.

They’ve waited, prepared, and planned for this day.

This is their day.

Their time.

Nothing else matters.

It reminds of me of our call, our purpose, and identity. To be the bride of Christ. The church. His pride and reward.

The enemy will try whatever he can to stop this.

In Geneses 3 we see the enemies first attack. He gives it everything he’s got, his goal is to crack the foundation God has just build.

So what does he attack?

The Christians ability to:
know Gods voice,
And know our identity

The serpent says to eve, “did he really say”, questioning what the Lord has said to her. This is nearly always his first form of attack in a Christians life, causing doubt to rule over Faith.

The serpent then goes on to question her identity, encouraging her that she could be better of she eats the fruit she was told not to eat. If she was sure about her identity and secure in it, she would have realized that she was perfect already.

The enemy will always try and attack a Christians identity. If you don’t know who He is, you will never know who you truly are.

So what’s the result when we allow these two things to be attacked?

We draw back from intimacy with God. Adam and eve hid in the garden from God instead of running to him.

The enemy’s number 1 objective?

To stop or hinder intimacy with the Lord.

If the bride doesn’t know the groom, it will be a very interesting wedding day.

Lets remember to…
Be confident in his voice,
Find your identity in him,
Intimacy is our purpose.

Our intimacy always determines our effectiveness in the Kingdom.

Together we can be the radiant bride we’re called to be. Now is our time.

Much love,

Benaiah
